The Dignified Work Blog: Welcome!

Oh the many things you could do right now instead of reading this.  Let’s make the time work it, shall we?

Here is what you can expect from this blog and those that follow:

Ideas that Work

My wife-and-business-partner and I are not exactly old, but not so young either.  Carol has a Master’s degree with an emphasis on Career Development.  She was also front and center in raising four children, who are now grown and doing good things in the world.  I’ve spend 40 years in both business and non-profit, 17 of them leading an organization of 200 employees.  For several years Carol and I have been coaching men and women like you as they approach life and career challenges.  We have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn’t.

An Encouraging Tone

People: we like nearly all of them.  As strength-based coaches, we believe that you already have most of what you need to face whatever is next, whether it’s a conflict at work or a job search.  We will never tell you something that we don’t actually believe to be true, but we hope to “bring some oxygen into the room” for you.

Honesty

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies.  Sometimes we just need a reminder that we have the option of changing our own thoughts, words and actions, even if we can’t change others.  These blogs will regularly include questions for some self-examination.  That can be uncomfortable, but it’s hard to make progress if we aren’t telling the truth about ourselves and to ourselves.

Occasional Side-Trips

It could be experiences from our coaching/consulting practice or excerpts from a book manuscript on work and dignity, but we’ll sometimes throw in some bonus content that we think you will like.
