Dupee Strengths logo without text

An appreciative approach to development.

Dupee Strengths discovers untapped capacity within individuals and organizations by helping people understand and do more of what they do best.

People will discover what they are best at, and feel seen by their team, enabling them to contribute with strength. This will energize and mobilize them, and ultimately lead to having greater satisfaction with their work. Team members will appreciate and respect one another in new ways, navigate differences better, and find it easier to work together well. Leaders will understand their sweet spot: the place where their talent, experience, and the opportunities of their organization intersect.

Dan and Carol Dupee

Our Story

Dan and Carol Dupee have invested their professional lives in developing people. After Dan’s years of executive leadership in the corporate and non-profit sectors, and Carol’s decades-long mentoring experience with expertise in career counseling, the pair saw an opportunity to bring together their own strengths and experiences to begin a new chapter: launching a consulting firm that develops people through an appreciative approach. Dan and Carol are experts at helping people better understand themselves so they can leverage their strengths in whatever work they choose to do. This increases capacity, and ultimately makes teams and organizations stronger and healthier.

Dan Dupee

Dan Dupee

Dan’s livelihood has always depended on getting results through people. He spent 13 years in his family business, Olsten Staffing Services of Cincinnati, working under the leadership of his father and older brother. During Dan’s tenure, Olsten grew from $12 million to $33 million in revenue with 11 offices and nearly 2,000 temporary employees on assignment on a weekly basis.

In 1999 Dan became president of the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO), a collegiate ministry based in Pittsburgh. During his 17 years as president, the CCO grew from work on 46 to 116 campuses; the organization was consistently recognized by Charity Navigator for excellent financial stewardship; and it was recognized as one of the best places to work in the US among peer organizations.

Dan served as chairman of the CCO board after his tenure as president.

Dupee Strengths-Based Consulting is rooted in Dan’s approach as a leader: find out what each person is best at doing and get them doing more of it. Dan is trained in Gallup’s Clifton StrengthsFinder, and also in MCORE (Motivational Core), an indicator based on SIMA®, the System for Identifying Motivated Abilities. He has also made extensive use of Appreciative Inquiry as a way forward for organizations interested in reaching their potential.

Carol Dupee

Carol Dupee, M.Ed.

Carol has invested her life in developing people. Whether as a career counselor, public school volunteer, mentor through her church, or parent of four children, Carol’s ability to listen well, provide wise insight, and share timely encouragement has shaped the lives of many.

Carol is a guidance counselor, coming alongside her clients, hearing well where they are (what they are going through), helping them to frame and express their questions and concerns, developing a plan to pursue next steps, and cheering and guiding them along the way. Carol’s experience in career development and job search techniques informs her work with Dupee Strengths. She loves to craft the right phrase for a resume, cover letter, or interview answer to best represent someone’s strengths.

Carol has an M.Ed. in Counseling from Penn State University, and is trained as a coach with Gallup’s Clifton StrengthsFinder, APEST, MPACT, and in administering the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

Carol has been very involved in the public schools as she parented her four children, including serving in many capacities with the PTA, including president. She has also served as a mentor to young(er) women through church. Carol has led Bible studies, taught women’s Sunday school, serves as a deacon on the Mercy team, and loves being a student of God’s Word herself.
